THE WONDERS OF ILOILO

It would take about 55 minutes to travel to Iloilo from Manila by air and about 20 hours by sea. The Iloilo airport is located approximately 19 kilometers away from Iloilo City. There are shuttle services and taxis to and from Iloilo airport with drop off and pick up points at SM City Iloilo. There are four major airlines that are operating in the improved and modernized New Iloilo Airport. Air Philippines, Cebu Pacific, Zest Air and the most prestigious, Philippine Air Lines. For sea travel, you can reach Iloilo via Negros Navigation, Cokaliong, WG and A Superferry, or even by RO-RO vessels. Iloilo can also be reached via Aklan, Capiz and Antique, although it would be a long and stressful trip.

Iloilo boasts some of the most beautiful God-given treasures in the land. Here are some of these beautiful spots that could be perfect getaways for us in different seasons.

Miag ao Church
Miag ao Church- is considered as one of the world's cultural heritage. Through the years, it has stood through the test of times. Standing still and strong on its ground against the changing weather conditions, Miag-ao church symbolizes the Filipinos' battle against poverty, down but definitely not out.

Miag ao church was built in 1786 by Spanish Augustinian missionaries and was declared as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Baroque churches of the Philippines in 1993. The magnificent carvings at the front of the church were believed to be giant-like creatures who have helped the Miag aowanons in defending themselves and their territories against the Moro pirates. Below the on the church facade lies the carving of the coconut tree which appears as the "tree of life" to which where St. Christopher, carrying the statue of the child Jesus in his shoulder is clinging to.

Bucari Leon

Bucari Leon- known for its cool climate, Bucari Leon is just another perfect getaway place during summer, next to Baguio City. About 40 minutes away from Poblacion, this place generates a solemn ambiance which could relieve stress. And what makes Bucari a complete package deal during summers are the wonderful waterfalls and magnificent spring in the nearby areas, plus a green environment that is definite far from the pollution-filled city of Iloilo.

Bantayan Beach Resort
Bantayan Beach Resort- is located in Guimbal Iloilo, about 30 kilometers south of Iloilo. Bantayan Beach Resort is one of the most popular resorts in Iloilo. Bantayan is an Ilonggo word which means the watchtower, a craft which was used by the early Ilonggos to watch over the sea to be able to prepare if there are some approaching Moro ships. Moros are Moslem pirates who always attack the residents to take away their belongings and foods.
Some of these watchtowers are still in existence and can be found along the shorelines of the featured resort, making it one of the most go-to places during summer.

Bantayan Beach Resort is an ideal place to play beach volleyball, to celebrate birthday parties, wedding receptions and anniversaries. It is also a good place to spend family reunions. Bantayan Beach Resort is suitable for all types of occasions. It can be reached through a jeepney, taxi, or a bus.

Molo Church
Molo Church- is one of the most familiar landmarks in Iloilo. Most of the saints in this church are female, branding the church as the feminists' church. This church has been built out of durable materials, no wonder why it has survived a number of calamities like fire, earthquakes and unpredictable weather conditions.
